10. Randy
Newman - Trouble In Paradise
A classic.

Crank up the Beach Boys baby
Don't let the music stop
We're gonna ride it till we just can't ride it no more

Choice Nugs - I Love L.A, Take Me
Back
9. Sonic Youth - Confusion Is Sex + Kill Yr. Idols
Classic? Imagine hearing this for the first time before hearing anything
else like it? There's so much going on in this record, I had a pretty hard time
putting it on here. But it's tough not to understand how influential it was and
to see the path it paved for other great bands to adapt this sound.
Choice Nugs - Inhuman, Kill Yr. Idols
8. R.E.M - Murmur
Classic. Really great debut. No real stand out tracks, just a great listen
full through. Imagine having to sit through the first three years of the 80's
without hearing Michael Stipe's voice?
Choice Nugs - Catapult, Pilgrimage, Laughing
7. Violent Femmes - S/T
Classic. Listened to this a bit in high school and didn't really understand
how cool it was. Definitely worth being higher on the list. Lots of hits and
great vocals.
Choice Nugs - Please Do Not Go, Good Feeling, Add It Up, Prove My Love
6. Wynton Marsalis - Think Of One
Classic jazz. A bit swingy (not a knock), but still very very good.
Choice Nugs - The Bell Ringer, Think Of One, Later
5. Billy Joel - An Innocent Man
Classical. May as well just call it "Greatest Hits Without Piano
Man". What doesn't this album have? A few slower tunes buried in there,
but really strong front to back. A great road-trip listen if you wanna piss off
everyone else in the car.
Choice Nugs - Easy money, Uptown Girl, Careless Talk, The Longest Time
4. Minor
Threat - Out Of Step
A punk
classic. 22 minutes of f'ing. Each song hits hard in its own way. I don't think
there's a bad song on this record. It's hard not to think that this wasn't the
exact record that they wanted to make. Album art for this record is freaking
awesome.
Choice Nugs
- Sob Story, Betray, It Follows
3.
Replacements - Hootenanny
A classic.
Gets a bit muddy throughout, but still got some great tracks. Oddly boppy and
fun. Still greasy. Song to song it feels like it slightly changes genres, but
each genre is new? I cant explain it. Also has my favourite replacements song
on it.
Choice Nugs
- Colour Me Impressed, Take Me Down To The Hospital, Treatment Bound
2. Bob
Marley - Confrontation
An instant
classic. Like a lot of the albums on here, I'd never sat through this one front
to back until having to make this list. I ended up liking this so much more
than I thought I would. Bob really strikes gold here. So many hits buried in
here beyond Buffalo Soldier.
Choice Nugs
- Rastaman Live Up, Chant Down Babylon, Give Thanks & Praises
1. Talking Heads - Speaking In
Tongues
Such a
classic. This was an easy #1 for me. My dad is a huge Talking Heads fan and
would constantly have this album, Remain in the Light and True Stories on at
the house. There's so much I love about this album but mostly appreciate the
memories of hearing it most Saturday mornings.
Choice Nugs
- Girlfriend Is Better, This Must Be The Place, Moon Rocks
Instant classic.
